Our evening show took place last friday night, it was overall a good night. This was a time our parents and other visitors could come in to look at our work. I enjoyed the night and looking at all the work that has been done.

Our final show

Gor the past week we have been setting up our final show in a small room in the downstairs part of college. we had to sort moving some of the furniture, cleaning the walls down and painting them, getting all the work in and mounted. Once it was all prepared we got starter poster up so we had our line to put up the A1 posters once these were up stuck up with velcro stickers we put up and arranged the smaller work below the a1 posters. We then got some computers down there with pictures music and our websites on them. Also our packaging is in the room and a wall of handmade work. Tonight is the private showing where our familys and others can come. Should be fun.

My FMP

For my FMP I have chosen to re-brand 'Levi Roots Reggae Reggae Sauce' and also brand it for the American market. This is a good project for me as it is bright vibrant and lively work. I met Levi Roots and got his contact to send my designs to him and hopefully something will come of this. I am looking into Jamaican culture, food, music, design and also the reggae culture. from all my research i'm going to design labels, posters bottles and other promotional material. I will look into typographic designs in Jamaica and design some typefaces to suit the product.

This is going to be a good project and i am looking forward to the research, my designs and feedback from my client Levi Roots.

Kingston University Portfolio Showing

I recently recieved a E-Mail from Kingston University, the University asked me to send them my portfolio online. I am now going to send them my blogger link and some pictures of my portfolio. I did not know that universities looked at students portfolios in this way, but it seems quite a cool thing as you can update it with your work so you build up your portfolio, and with the times we are in, its a very modern and easily accessable way. I look forward to hearing back from Kingston with critism and improvements on my work and portfolio.

V&A Trip to London

On Friday 15th of January we took a trip to the V&A art museum in London, where we had a brief on advertising, with Cara, to try and get more young people to come to the museum, we also has the chance to see some originals of advertising posters from the past. I think the visit helped me because it showed me what the client wants and the limits to what i'm aloud to do. From this i will try to work my designs within the boundary's. I now have to produce poster designs and other promotional material to attract young people into the museum, from what i have seen i think this will be hard, as the museum has a large range of old and historic art and have a small area that would attract young people as it is not as modern and up to date as other museums like the Tate and the design museum.

In Photoshop I have used many file types; psd, jpg, tiff, pdf, gif. TIFF - this is a tagged image file format, which is used for bit-mapped images.

JPEG – this is short for joint photographic experts group, it’s a lossy compression format for colour images. JPEG can usually reduce a file size to about 5% of its normal size.
GIF – this stands for graphics interchange format. It a bit-mapped graphics file format used by the Internet. GIF supports colour and various resolutions.
PDF – short for portable document format. This captures formatting information, and makes it possible to send a document as it was intended to be viewed. In the past it was only used by graphic artists and designers but today PDF and be used for virtually any data.
SWF – this stands for shockwave flash. It is a format for displaying animated vector graphics on the web.

HTML – this is a hyper text mark-up language, it is used to crate documents on the web. It is created using tags and codes. Starting with .

CSS – cascading style sheets, this is like html but the user has more control over how the pages are displayed.
